Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 11, 2026
This is a draft policy written to describe Planality's actual data handling as built. It has not been reviewed by an attorney — have it checked before relying on it for OAuth app verification, Stripe onboarding, or public launch, especially for anything involving state/international privacy law (e.g. CCPA, GDPR) if you expect users outside Connecticut.

1. What Planality is

Planality is an AI scheduling application built by Christopher Vaquiz ("we," "us"). This policy explains what information Planality collects, how it's stored, and how it's used, whether you're using the desktop app or (in the future) the web app.

2. Two versions, two different answers

Planality comes in two forms, and where your data lives depends on which one you use. We want to be direct about this rather than blur it:

  • The desktop app is local-first. Tasks, calendar entries, projects, board data, notes, habit tracking, and layout preferences are stored on your own device. We do not receive or store that content.
  • The web app is cloud-based. To make your plan available in a browser and across devices, that same content is stored on our servers (hosted with Supabase). This is the trade-off that makes the web version work at all.

If keeping your task and calendar content entirely off our servers matters to you, use the desktop app.

2a. What we promise either way

Whichever version you use, these hold:

  • We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
  • We do not use your content to train AI models.
  • We do not show you ads, and we don't build an advertising profile of you.
  • Your data is yours. You can export it or delete your account and its contents at any time.
  • Other users cannot see your data. In the web app, database-level access rules restrict every record to the account that created it.

3. Information we collect

Account information. When you create a Planality account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in readable form.

Calendar and task data. The tasks, events, projects, and notes you create in Planality. In the desktop app these are stored on your device. In the web app they are stored on our servers, associated with your account.

Connected account data (OAuth). If you connect Google Calendar, Outlook, Notion, or Google Classroom, Planality requests access tokens from those providers via their official OAuth process. We never see or store your password for these services. In the desktop app, tokens are encrypted in your device's secure credential storage (e.g. macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager). In the web app, tokens are stored encrypted on our servers and tied to your account. Either way they are used only to read and write the data you've explicitly authorized, and you can disconnect any service at any time from Settings, which deletes the stored token.

Uploaded images. If you upload a custom banner or profile picture, it is stored on your device in the desktop app, or on our servers in the web app.

Voice data. In the desktop app, your speech is captured by your device's microphone and transcribed on your device using an offline speech-to-text engine; raw audio is not sent anywhere. In the web app, browsers cannot run that offline engine, so speech is transcribed using your browser's built-in speech recognition or a third-party transcription service, which means audio or its transcript leaves your device. In both cases, we do not retain raw audio after transcription. If this matters to you, use the desktop app for voice.

Location (Weather widget). If you add the Weather widget, the city/location you enter is sent to our weather data provider to retrieve a forecast. This is limited to the location you type in — Planality does not access device GPS location for this feature.

Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. Planality does not receive or store your full card details — Stripe handles this directly under its own privacy policy.

4. AI processing

Planality's AI scheduling, re-planning, project scaffolding, and voice command features work by sending relevant context (such as task titles, deadlines, and your request) to an AI model to generate a response. Depending on your settings and which version you use, this may be a locally-run model on your own device, or a request to a third-party AI provider (such as Anthropic's Claude API).

To be explicit: we do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not sell your data to anyone. Your tasks and calendar are not a product we monetize. Our AI providers are used to process your requests, not to learn from your data.

5. Third-party services

Certain optional widgets and features rely on third-party services:

  • Google Calendar / Outlook / Google Classroom: connected via OAuth, governed by Google's and Microsoft's own privacy policies for the data they hold.
  • Notion: connected via OAuth for optional task/project import, governed by Notion's privacy policy.
  • Weather widget: location queries are sent to our weather data provider to retrieve forecasts.
  • Spotify widget: uses Spotify's public embed player for links you paste in. This does not connect to or access your Spotify account.

We encourage you to review each provider's own privacy policy for how they handle data on their end.

6. Data retention and deletion

Desktop app: your data lives on your device, so you control its retention — deleting the app or its local data folder removes it.

Web app: your data is stored on our servers until you delete it. You can delete individual items at any time, or request deletion of your entire account and all associated data by contacting us (Section 9). We will action account deletion requests within 30 days.

If you disconnect a third-party connector, its stored access token is deleted immediately.

7. Children's privacy

Planality is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Planality's features change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
